Michael was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Although a small town, he was recognized for his athletic ability in both baseball and football. He attended Coe College, where he received his bachelor’s degree in business. After graduation, Michael, with his deep passion for tax, attended St. Louis University Law School. During this time, Michael worked at Ernst and Whinney as a Tax Senior, where he prepared and reviewed, business, fiduciary and individual tax returns. Part of his employment was an overseas assignment, where Michael traveled to Saudi Arabia to supervise staff preparing different types of tax returns.
